CodY Young
Cody Young is a queer writer and producer from the sticks outside of Syracuse NY, who works in both film and fiction, with a distinct focus on atypical, queer, pulpy characters lodged in and dealing with rural settings. As a young boy, Cody was mesmerized by the Universal Monster movies and to say that those films have influenced his work would be a drastic understatement. Cody’s works, while occasionally being comedic, are most often highlighted by the usage of horror elements to explore systemic societal conditions in rural spaces. Cody received his MFA in Screenwriting from Boston University and recently completed his MFA in Producing at Columbia University. He co-wrote and provided the story for the film Melanie, alongside co-writer and director Howard McCain. Melanie was also used as the basis of a series in development at Shudder, entitled Night Terrors.

Melanie unfolds through the eyes of a young girl who lives at the edge of a vast and forbidding cornfield. Troubled and misunderstood by her parents, Melanie flees to the fields, trying to escape a world that is forcing her to be something she is not: 'normal.' There she is befriended by an otherworldly scarecrow; whose soothing words of encouragement hide his possibly evil intentions. As their unlikely friendship grows, so does Melanie's understanding of her own dark nature.
PEDIGREE, follows a poor but charming Father-Daughter duo who decide to sell second-hand puppies as a scam to score big. The film is a blend of Dark Comedy, Thriller, and Family Drama in the vein of Parasite.
